William Yeo (Founder & CEO)
William is a trained and qualified Financial Advisor Representative. With 15 years of experience in the financial services sector, he was the Head of Training and an Associate Manager of one of Singapore's leading Independent Financial Services Firm. William sat on the Million Dollar Producers Club (MDPC) of a Life Insurance Company as its President and Past President (consultative role). Prior to his appointment as President in the MDPC, he served as Social Chairman of the club. His innate understanding of the workings of an Association Committee serves him well in his role in Globewerks. He currently heads the Business Development Division and continues to oversee the exhibition sales and sponsorship procurement with his team. William holds an MBA from the University of Hull, UK.
Goh Hong Wee (Founder & Managing Director - Singapore)
Hong Wee has overall responsibility for driving the business and ensuring that quality and service levels of the project team are exceeded through the on-going review of all projects and being available to address any client or projects issues. Recognised by clients and colleagues as a consummate professional, with a contagious passion for excellence and resourceful business solutions, she understands clients’ challenges in delivering a successful and profitable event. Her vast experience in this industry and her hands-on involvement in every project allow her to identify challenges and opportunities and to develop strategies to overcome the challenges whilst capitalising on the opportunities. With 20 years’ experience in the hospitality, tourism and conventions industry under her belt – Hong Wee also works very closely with the project team on all aspects of the event. Hong Wee graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) and holds an MBA from the University of Hull, UK.
Mak Weng Kit (Managing Director – Malaysia)
Very few can compare to Mak Weng Kit when it comes to Organising & Managing Exhibitions & Conferences in Malaysia. A respected veteran in the industry, he started his career in advertising and moved into the exciting world of events in 1986, heading Cahners Exhibitions Group in Malaysia. Subsequently, he was appointed the General Manager of Reed Exhibition Companies, Malaysia when Reed acquired Cahners Exhibition Group, a position he held for 10 years. His vast experience and contacts were evident when he established Miller Freeman's Malaysian office in 1996 and within a year, Miller Freeman Sdn Bhd became the leading exhibition and conference organiser in Malaysia. Miller Freeman worldwide by then, was the largest trade show and conference group in the world after its acquisition of Bleinheim plc. Mak's credentials read like a chronicle of some of the most successful exhibitions and conferences in Malaysia such as MALBEX, Multimedia Asia, Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange show and Franchise Asia. He is also one of the founding members of the Malaysian Association of Conference and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (MACEOS) and a past president.
Sharifah Mariam (General Manager - Malaysia)
Sharifah is an industry giant, having spent the last 10 years managing and organizing large scale governmental congresses in Malaysia. She previously founded and ran a conference company and it was there that she gained a strong reputation as a dynamic entrepreneur amongst her peers in the industrywho uses creativity, leadership and teamwork to successfully deliver large scale conventions. She packs a wealth of experience having organised the 17th World Orchid Conference, 7th World Conference on Timber Engineering, 27th ISME World Conference, Asian Seed Congress & the 16th International Congress on Archives. In 2007, Sharifah was appointed by the Prime Minister’s department to work with key leaders in the tourism industry and the Economic Planning Unit to help set key indicators and propel bumiputera companies in the tourism industry into global markets. Part of her work then included providing support to government agencies and international organisations and had been successful in both managing and bidding for international conferences to be hosted in Malaysia. Sharifah graduated from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, U.K. Her key strengths being her resourcefulness, leadership position and innate people skills ensure the smooth execution of each minute component of the conference from inception to completion.
Matthew Leonard (General Manager - Singapore)
Matthew undertook an extensive and diverse career in the hospitality sector spanning more than 10 years, developing exceptional skills in customer service, management, leadership and sales. Assignments both in Australia and internationally with renowned global hotel organisations including Intercontinental, Sheraton and Westin formed the basis of a professional career in corporate conferences. Before joining Globewerks, Matthew was a stakeholder in Elite Media Group that runs high level industry summits across Australia.
Matthew has worked on some of the best Summits in Australia across many different verticals such as Digital, Advertising Marketing & Media, Infrastructure, Insurance, Workplace Relations, Recruitment and Health.
Syaza Abidin (Association Management & Exhibitions)
After graduating from Ngee Ann Polytechnic with a Diploma in Business Studies a few years ago, Syaza started her first full-time job with Globewerks!
Over the years with Globewerks, Syaza worked hard on every project and tasks assigned to her. She has earned the due respect and recognition of her colleagues and clients alike. She is now managing the exhibitions team where she supervises her team for exhibitions in Malaysia and Hong Kong. She is also currently leading secretariat work with a non-medical association. With her perseverance and determination, Syaza will no doubt be able to continue with the association's growth and sustaining all of the projects in the exhibitions' division.
Roslin Daud (Events Management)
Roslin has been in event management since 2000, after leaving the media industry which she was in for more than 4 years. Combining the experience garnered from both industries, Roslin went to freelance in 2006 as she undertook the responsibilities of raising a family. During this time she had the opportunity to venture into project management; managing events, business development, PR and publicity for different projects in different industries, with emphasis on new technology, sometimes all at one time. Amongst the projects and events that she has managed and was involved in were: Petronas' Oil & Gas Conferences, the World Islamic Economic Forum, the franchising of Candi Soo Fitness (currently operating in Auckland, New Zealand) and the UNDP Malaysia's “Capacity Building Support for Malaysia’s Role in Multidimensional Peacekeeping Training" project. 2012 saw her gradually steering back into fulltime employment, but Roslin's weekends and after hours are committed to PR work in the publicity and development of the community in the area of the performing arts.
Goh Choon Hua (Events Management)
Having previously interned at Globewerks during her final year in Republic Polytechnic whilst pursuing her Diploma in Integrated Events Management, CH as she is affectionately known to the Globewerks family, was offered a full time position with us upon graduation. CH was involved in major projects handled by the team and her responsibilities then included managing various critical components of a conference (abstracts, faculty, hospitality and registration management). Over the past 4 years that she was in Globewerks, she has risen from the ranks to her current position. CH currently leads a division in developing and managing public education projects for the medical associations that Globewerks manage.
Diane Tan (Events Management)
Diane graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the National University of Singapore and is now continuing her pursuit of interest in events and the ‘people business’ with Globewerks. Having been with Globewerks for over three years, Diane is well-trained and experienced in all aspects of events management and has supervised the coordination and execution of several key conferences organised by Globewerks. With the expansion of Globewerks into corporate events organisation, Diane has also successfully spearheaded the planning of these projects, delivering results that exceed clients’ expectations. The vast amount of knowledge and skills that she has acquired from her ‘on-the-job’ experiences makes Diane an indispensable member of the Globewerks family as well as a significant player in the successful delivery of our projects.
